Job Summary
In response to the ongoing Mpox outbreak, WHO is hiring two Mpox Vaccination Officers to assist with vaccination preparedness and deployment in Uganda. The officers will contribute to the development of training materials, coordination with vaccination teams, and support for Mpox vaccination efforts in affected regions. The positions will help ensure the success of vaccination campaigns to reduce the impact of Mpox.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Vaccination Preparedness and Deployment:
- Assist in creating and distributing vaccination preparedness and deployment plans.
- Develop training materials, field guides, and operational tools for Mpox vaccination in Africa.
- Training and Coordination:
- Conduct training for healthcare workers, vaccinators, and other field staff.
- Ensure strong coordination between surveillance and vaccination teams, ensuring access to updated contact lists.
- Support Surveillance and Contact Tracing:
- Enhance Mpox surveillance and assist in contact tracing efforts, identifying and vaccinating contacts of confirmed cases.
- Community Engagement and Risk Communication:
- Strengthen community engagement through risk communication and infodemic management.
- Collaborate with communication teams to produce visibility materials for vaccination activities.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Oversee and assess vaccination implementation to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework and provide regular progress reports.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Document lessons learned and effective practices.
- Provide a final report summarizing activities, challenges, and recommendations for the vaccination program.
Expected Deliverables
- Preparedness and Deployment Plan: A detailed Mpox vaccination preparedness and deployment plan.
- Training and Operational Tools: Comprehensive training materials and documentation.
- Coordination and Surveillance Framework: A functional coordination framework with updated contact lists.
- Risk Communication and Community Engagement: Risk communication materials and infodemic management activities.
- Monitoring and Evaluation Report: A bi-weekly progress report and final report with recommendations.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Educational Qualifications
- MBCHB with a Master’s in Public Health.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in vaccine preparedness, sensitization, surveillance, and reporting.
- Experience with routine immunization and supplementary immunization activities.
- Added advantage for experience in ring vaccination.
Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with vaccine programs and immunization practices.
- Knowledge of public health emergency response and Mpox vaccination strategies.
Languages
- English (fluent).
