SEAOWL is looking for an experienced Senior Public Relations Officer (North Nile) to manage and enhance the public image of the Company in the North Nile Region. The role involves implementing communication strategies, engaging with the media, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders. The Senior Public Relations Officer will report to the PR Coordinator and be part of a dynamic team working on the Tilenga Project.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
- Communication Strategies: Collaborate with the PR Coordinator to design and execute communication plans promoting Company and Tilenga Project initiatives.
- Stakeholder Communications: Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels tailored to the region’s audiences.
- Media Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with local media outlets.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with community leaders, local government officials, businesses, and key stakeholders.
- Public Affairs: Monitor public policy issues and advocate for Company initiatives with local officials.
- Event Management: Plan and coordinate Company events, public meetings, and outreach activities.
- Crisis Management: Implement crisis communication plans and work with Community Liaison Officers to build community support for the project.
Accountabilities:
- Increase visibility of Company activities, policies, and initiatives in the North Nile Region.
- Establish strong relationships with local influencers, leaders, and authorities.
- Write regional press releases in local languages, manage media engagements, and coordinate radio talk shows.
- Organize external stakeholder field visits and ensure well-organized events that communicate the Company’s message.
- Monitor local media coverage and analyze community sentiments regarding Company and project activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Public Affairs, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in public relations, public affairs, or a related field, preferably in the North Nile Region.
- Strong understanding of the oil and gas sector, government operations, media, and civil society.
- In-depth knowledge of local issues within the Albertine Graben, focusing on the Acholi and West Nile regions.
- Fluency in English and Alur/Acholi languages (both written and spoken).
- Proven experience in media relations and an interest in current affairs and news coverage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Photoshop, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain ongoing relationships with the media, local authorities, and cultural leaders.
Work Hours:
Full-time, 8-hour workdays.
