Job Summary

Old Mutual Uganda is seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to manage daily financial activities with precision and efficiency. The role involves ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely invoicing, tax compliance, and maintaining excellent vendor and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Compute and book revenues accurately in the system, ensuring correct invoicing and customer statement generation.
• Record expenses accurately and on time with appropriate documentation.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records and balances for all vendors.
• Ensure all taxes are accurately captured and remitted to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) by the 13th of every month.
• Process payments promptly and regularly reconcile vendor accounts for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare commission schedules for review and ensure payments are completed by the 25th of each month.
• Regularly update accounts payable and receivable, including monthly and quarterly client invoicing.
• Resolve client payment issues efficiently to maintain high customer satisfaction.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of unallocated balances and Unit Trust accounts for review by the CFO.
• Manage supplier payments and conduct timely reconciliation of bank accounts.
• Prepare and submit management accounts for funds by the 13th of every month.
• Handle petty cash vouchers monthly and prepare petty cash certificates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Business Administration (Accounting and Finance options)
  • Commerce
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Science in Accounting

Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Strong skills in expense management, invoice preparation, and payment handling.
• Expertise in reconciliations and financial reporting.
• High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
