Job Overview:
Stromme Foundation is seeking a Financial Controller to provide support to the Forum for Women and Development (FOKUS), a knowledge and resource center focused on international gender issues. As an umbrella organization for 43 organizations in Norway, FOKUS aims to promote women’s human rights and gender equality globally by strengthening women’s access to rights, resources, and power through advocacy and international development cooperation. Responsibilities:
- Review and quality assure budgets, interim reports, and yearly reports from partners.
- Collaborate closely with programme advisors to compare financial and narrative reports.
- Provide guidance and advice on the financial management of projects.
- Conduct regular financial checks and/or spot checks on projects.
- Assess and review partners’ financial performance.
- Follow up on management letters and financial reviews/partner assessments.
- Attend and contribute to training sessions and workshops.
- Participate in travel activities and visits to partners.
- Conduct anti-corruption training and enhance financial competence among partner staff.
- Contribute to capacity strengthening of local partners in the region.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by Stromme or the back-donors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar field, with a CPA (U) certificate.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Travel: Willing and able to travel within Eastern Africa.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English; knowledge of Kiswahili is an advantage.
