Job Overview:

The Finance Officer will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of the research business at Mildmay Research Centre Uganda. This position focuses on grants management, financial accounting, and various administrative tasks. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in research grants management and a solid understanding of financial principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue potential funding opportunities.
  • Develop and submit research proposals.
  • Oversee grant applications, ensure accurate reporting, and comply with funders’ requirements.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with funders and partners.
  • Analyze grant application data and provide financial insights.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of Professional Qualification Level 3 (CPA or ACCA).
  • At least three (3) years of experience in financial management, preferably in a research or non-profit organization.
  • Experience in grants management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with international funding agencies (e.g., NIH, EDCTP, Gates Foundation) is a strong advantage.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software, including Microsoft Dynamics Navision and Excel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Hours: 8 hours per day
Experience Required: 36 months (3 years)
