Job Overview:

Talis Consults is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant for the Environmental Management for Livelihood Improvement Bwaise Facility (EMLI). The ideal candidate will handle financial transactions, manage payroll, and assist with administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Initiate all financial transactions.
  • Manage payroll, invoices, expense reimbursements, and cash advances.
  • Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns and handle income tax queries.
  • Record all financial transactions in the accounting software and generate monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with EMLI’s financial policies.

Management Support

  • Serve as custodian for office stationery supplies, maintaining stock and distribution logs.
  • Assist with HR tasks, including organizing staff records, updating inventory, and electronic filing.
  • Help schedule, prepare, and coordinate meetings.
  • Liaise with third-party providers, clients, and suppliers.
  • Update and maintain financial procedures.
  • Perform clerical tasks, including filing, handling mail, and making phone calls.
  • Assist the Senior Accounts and Administrative Officer with additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting option) or Business Administration (Accounting option).
  • Partial professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial role, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Proficient in financial procedures and accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must be computer literate and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Applicants should not be older than 28 years as of September 24, 2024.

Work Hours: 8 hours per day
Experience Required: 36 months (3 years)
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
