Position Overview
The Project Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases within settlements and host communities under the guidance of the Project Officer.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Project Implementation:
- Assist the Project Officer in identifying GBV/SGBV cases.
- Promote active participation of beneficiaries in planning, implementation, and evaluation of project activities.
- Provide guidance to community structures to report GBV/SGBV cases.
- Offer basic psychosocial support for survivors of GBV and human rights violations.
- Liaise with the Project Officer, Legal Officer, and Lawyers to facilitate legal representation for complainants.
- Participate in GBV coordination meetings and SGBV training.
- Ensure timely case follow-up for all GBV cases.
- Use participatory methods to engage key stakeholders in promoting active community participation in GBV prevention and response.
- Train community structures and stakeholders on GBV prevention and response using the SASA methodology.
- Collect and tabulate field data on project activities and undertake impact assessment using participatory approaches.
- Ensure survivors receive appropriate services based on their needs.
- Adhere to principles of confidentiality and dignity.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to the responsible officer within the specified time.
Project Planning:
- Ensure all activities have approved work plans.
- Submit work plans to the Project Officer on time.
Staff Management:
- Ensure community-based facilitators comply with LWF code of conduct and child protection policy.
- Report issues affecting community-based facilitators to the Settlement Officer.
Financial Management / Budget Monitoring & Control:
- Ensure correct documentation of complaints tools (attendance lists, distribution lists, beneficiaries lists) and proper filing of project documents.
Project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Conduct regular field visits to all beneficiary sites to check progress and verify existing caseload needs.
- Document challenges in deliveries and utilization of protection inputs.
- Document stories of change on a quarterly basis.
- Develop project monitoring plans to ensure activities are implemented as expected.
Other:
- Undertake other related duties as reasonably assigned by the Supervisor.
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
- University Degree in Gender and Women Studies, Social Work, Social Sciences, Development, or other relevant fields.
- At least 2 years of experience in Project Management/Community Development programming.
- Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects and SASA implementation.

- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to inspire and build capacity of national staff.
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent English language skills (both written and spoken).
- Proficiency in Information Technology (MS Office, Internet).
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Good team worker with strong communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible in a changing environment, and make decisions independently.
