About Us:

The Palliative Care Association Of Uganda (PCAU) was founded with a mission to advocate for the availability and accessibility of palliative care services across Uganda. From our beginnings in the premises of Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) and nurtured by the dedication of volunteers, PCAU has played a pivotal role in expanding palliative care services to 107 districts and over 250 facilities nationwide, including 13 Regional Referral Hospitals and 13 standalone hospices. Our work is dedicated to ensuring that individuals facing serious health challenges can access compassionate care and support.

Job Summary:

PCAU invites passionate and committed individuals to volunteer as Advocacy and Communications Officers. This role offers an extraordinary opportunity to be at the forefront of strategic advocacy and communications efforts to enhance the accessibility of palliative care services. Working under the guidance of the Advocacy and Communications Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing both internal and external communications, event coordination, and the promotion of PCAU’s mission and services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of PCAU’s Communication Strategy.
  • Engage in advocacy efforts to promote the importance of palliative care.
  • Assist in managing the organization’s corporate image and brand visibility.
  • Contribute to the creation and dissemination of impactful stories, messages, and information to various stakeholders.
  • Participate in the organization and management of PCAU events and campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively with the communications team to enhance PCAU’s digital presence.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related fields. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A creative mindset with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, engaging messages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in the use of modern communications tools and platforms.
  • A genuine passion for humanitarian work and a commitment to serving the needs of the vulnerable and disadvantaged in the community.
