About Us:
Established in July 2010, the Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, Uganda (RSCE) serves as a pivotal hub for providing efficient and client-oriented administrative services to various United Nations entities. From human resources to finance and information and communications technology (ICT) support, RSCE aims to streamline administrative functions and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Chief, Global Procurement Support Section, the Procurement Assistant will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Review, prioritize, and record purchasing requests, ensuring adherence to the Best Value for Money principle.
- Research the market, identify procurement sources, and post tender requirements for Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations to Bid (ITBs).
- Prepare tender documents and submit technical proposals for evaluation.
- Analyze offers and compile data to determine the best vendor for goods/services procurement.
- Prepare presentations for contract review and clearance by relevant committees.
- Supervise, assign, and review the work of junior staff.
- Maintain internal databases and files, monitor contractual agreements, and ensure timely delivery of goods/services.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- High-school diploma or equivalent.
- Professional certification in supply chain (e.g., CIPS Level 4) is required.
- At least eight years of progressive experience in procurement, contract management, or logistics.
- Three consecutive years of international tendering experience within the last eight years.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and E-Tendering systems (e.g., Ariba) is desirable.
- Experience in public sector procurement processes and UN field mission operations is advantageous.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
