Job Title: Communications Graduate Trainee

Organization: Infectious Diseases Institute

Duty Station: Kampala

 

Roles and responsibilities

  •  Offer administrative support to Communications Officer and in-house teams on HASH project, Health Innovations Conference, etc.
  • Support the creation of content (writing, editing and proofreading) and management of social media networks.
  • Support the creation and execution of communication strategies for different aspects of projects.
  • Help to create, update and maintain Academy projects’ website content.
  • Track projects and media exposure as well as update databases and media lists.
  • Help in researching, writing and editing content for distribution, including photos and videos.
  • Support with brainstorming ideas for presentations, newsletters, infographics, etc.
  • Uphold the organization and the Academy’s external image.
  • Any other roles as designated by the supervisors.

 

Minimum Qualifications for this job:

  • At least a Bachelors in Mass communication or Media or a related field.
  • Should have graduated one year ago.
  • Should have done internship at a reputable organization.
  • Above average knowledge of various social media platforms: especially professional platforms like Twitter, and Linked-In. This will be a paramount skill.
  • Proficiency in Office management software and design software such as Photoshop and InDesign will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with website design or content an advantage
  • French language an advantage
  • Detail-oriented and organizational skills: Juggling multiple tasks is common in this role, hence organization and a keen eye for detail is essential.
