A typical Smarthome stove saves each family we reach about 9% of their annual income while reducing air pollution.
UpEnergy has a 10 year track record of building projects that overperform expectations in the generation of emissions reductions, and that deliver on our the energy savings promise to our customers. We are one of the largest developers by volume of projects focused poverty alleviation through energy savings and fuel switching. Our team has a collective 50 years of experience and is at the forefront of Paris-era project finance.
Job Summary
The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will use UpEnergy’s data to uncover & share insights into business decisions within the Kampala office. He/she will gather, analyze and compile data needed to identify trends, patterns and make recommendations for business actions. The right candidate will be analytical, curious and having a passion for solving problems through a data-driven, customer-centric approach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop interactive Tableau dashboards or visualizations to track key performance indicators, summarize sales and data trends, and to enable UpEnergy’s Kampala office to manage and monitor their sales performance
- Clean, interpret and analyse data using Excel, SQL, R or Python
- Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative investigations to better understand customer expectations in each segment.
- Support analysis on pilots and projects to determine their efficacy and potential for scale
- Generate daily/weekly/monthly sales reports across all products and respond to other ad-hoc data requests.
- Collect user requirements on key analytic/reporting needs from business stakeholders.
- Train stakeholders within the business to improve data fluency
- Work together with other stakeholders especially the sales team to ensure we are enabling data driven decision making on the most important business questions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative subject such as Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or related field, relevant master’s degree preferred but not required
- Exceptional analytical skills and ability to synthesize and interpret qualitative and quantitative data into practical strategy recommendations
- Experience building clear and insightful data visualizations with tools like (MS Excel, Tableau, Power BI, D3, ggplot, etc.)
- Able to build advanced queries using PostgreSQL
- Excellent communication skills, discussing & describing data related analysis.
- Demonstrated ability working across teams and functions on technical project
- Keen eye for detail and thoughtful investigation of data before relying upon it
- Experience in managing multiple problems & assignments at the same time and delivering high quality outputs.
- Exceptional judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to “Think Big & Make it Happen” both independently and collaboratively
- Innovative mind‐set oriented toward constructive problem‐solving and collaboration with stakeholders from various sectors
