Ministry of Water and Environment Profile:
The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) was established in 2007, from the then Ministry of Water, Lands and Environment, following the cabinet decision taken on 15th April, 2007. It has the overall responsibility of the development, managing, and regulating water and Environment resources in Uganda. In the process of executing all its operations, the Ministry is committed to zero tolerance to fraud and corruption as guided by the existing legal national frameworks and institutions.
The Ministry of Water and Environment is committed to avoiding, minimizing, and mitigating adverse environmental and social impacts associated with its projects, as well as adopting a gender-sensitive and gender-equitable approach for all its projects. The Ministry is also committed to ensuring transparency and accessibility of information, in addition to facilitating the resolution of disputes, with respect to environmental and social risks and gender considerations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Preparing lectures and delivering them to undergraduate and post-graduate students;
- Setting tests, examinations and course work;
- Administering and invigilating tests and examinations;
- Marking tests, course work and examinations scripts, compiling and grading examination results;
- Guiding and advising students on their academic performance;
- Attending to student’s non-academic challenges and referring those that need further counselling and guidance;
- Conducting research and disseminating research findings through conferences, seminars and publications;
- Supervising undergraduate and post graduate students undertaking research projects;
- Conducting seminars and tutorials;
- Carrying out official administrative duties in the department as directed by the Head of Department;
- Contributing to the college and wider society through community service;
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences (Forestry; or Botany / Zoology; or Physics; or Environmental Science; or Agriculture) plus a Masters Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University / Institution.
