Health Service Commission Profile:
The HSC derives its mandate and functions from Article 169 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda; section 56(3) of the Local Government Act, CAP 243 and, the HSC Act, 2001 section 25(2). In the perspective of laws, the HSC was established in 1998 to address unique Human Resources for Health issues in the health service. Specifically, the Commission is mandated to appoint, confirm, promote and review the terms and conditions of service, training and qualifications of health workers. The Commission is also mandated to foster professional and work ethics and exercise disciplinary control over the health workers under its jurisdiction.
Job Summary
Participate in the continuous nursing coverage on Wards/Units by receiving reports and effectively handing over to incoming staff.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Supervise and train Artisans.
- Ensure confidentiality.
- Ensure that aseptic techniques are adhered to in the preparation procedures.
- Participate in Primary Health Care activities.
- Participate in Doctors/Clinical Officers’ ward rounds.
- Keep patients comfortable and ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Carry out health education to patients and their attendants.
- Carry out observations, keep proper records and ensure their safe custody.
- Maintain close contact with patients.
- Participate in a continuous Nursing coverage on Wards / Units
Qualifications

- Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Comprehensive Nurse Certificate from a recognized institution
