Job Purpose:

The Assistant Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily warehouse operations, including the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods. The role also involves managing inventory levels, supervising staff, and ensuring the warehouse operates in line with company guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily warehouse operations, including receiving, documentation, storage, safety, and distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise the routing, packing, and preparation of orders for delivery, including overseeing vehicle loading, deliveries, and pick-ups.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate warehouse staff, assigning tasks and managing employee performance.
  • Prepare and maintain records, logs, and reports related to inventory, warehouse activities, and other operational tasks.
  • Maintain health and safety standards within the warehouse and ensure it is clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Assist management in establishing warehouse standards, procedures, and advising on budget-related needs.
  • Organize the inventory and storage area for efficient operations and improved workflow.
  • Record and manage inventory data, utilizing reports to monitor warehouse activities.
  • Identify areas for improvement and propose changes to existing procedures and practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate activities for smooth operations.
  • Verify requisitions from other departments before issuing products.
  • Prepare monthly reports on closing stocks, cost savings, incidents, and KPI reviews, submitting them to management for decision-making.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Stores and Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Warehousing, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field.

Competencies:

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with hands-on commitment to getting tasks done.
  • Knowledge of warehouse software, MS Office proficiency, and SAP experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to input, retrieve, and analyze data.
  • Fast thinker with strong decision-making abilities within existing guidelines.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Minimal disagreeable conditions.
  • Job Hazards: Exposure to dust and smoke from forklift operations.
