Job Summary:
The Uganda Program Design and Social Behavior Change Lead will design and implement social behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies and programs for the Uganda program. The role focuses on promoting and sustaining positive behaviors within smallholder farmers, encouraging climate-sustainable agricultural practices. Reporting to the COO and Head of Field Programs, you will develop new approaches for both internal team training and farmer education to foster the adoption of improved agronomic practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Design (40%)
- Develop SBCC strategies and interventions grounded in research and best practices.
- Create culturally relevant messaging and materials tailored to smallholder farmers.
Implementation and Coordination (40%)
- Oversee SBCC program execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and farmers’ needs.
- Encourage the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), the shift from traditional staple crops to higher-value crops, and the adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture practices.
- Manage program budgets, timelines, and resources.
Monitoring and Evaluation (10%)
- Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to assess the impact of SBCC interventions.
- Analyze program data for decision-making and program improvement.
Capacity Building (10%)
- Provide training and technical assistance to staff and partners on SBCC best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Communication, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and implementing SBCC programs, ideally in public health or agriculture.
- Strong understanding of behavioral theories and models in program design.
- Experience in project management, including budget oversight and reporting.
- Proficiency in local languages and a deep understanding of local cultural contexts.
Work Hours: 8 hours/day
