Job Summary

The Programme Coordinator, reporting to the Field Programme Manager, will support the implementation of IDLO’s programs, ensuring compliance with financial, contractual, and quality standards. The role will include day-to-day project management, budget oversight, monitoring, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The coordinator will also represent IDLO in various program events and support program development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Programme Implementation: Support daily activities, including work planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordination: Manage information flow between IDLO offices.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track program progress, recommend adjustments, and ensure compliance with contracts and procedures.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the Finance Unit to monitor spending and address budgetary issues.
  • Reporting: Assist with drafting and finalizing internal and external reports, highlighting program value and impact.
  • Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure adherence to internal guidelines, contracts, and program deliverables.
  • Research: Conduct research on legal, political, social, and economic events relevant to the program.
  • Representation: Build relationships with donors, UN agencies, government bodies, and CSOs; represent IDLO at program events.
  • Programme Development: Support the generation of new program ideas and the development of proposals.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Gender Studies, or related fields; post-graduate qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in the Justice, Law, and Order Sector (JLOS) or governance sector; experience with gender issues in Uganda is crucial. Experience with international organizations is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills; proficiency in MS Office; excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.
  • Attributes: Strong ethics, integrity, teamwork, and an enthusiastic, proactive attitude. Willingness to travel frequently to the field.

Terms & Conditions

  • Contract: 12-month affiliate contract, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.
  • Benefits: UGX 115,000,000 annual salary, medical insurance, and leave entitlements according to IDLO regulations.
