Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) is a part of the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and largest public university. MakSPH is involved in research, teaching, and community service to improve public health in Uganda and beyond.

Job Summary:

Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health (MakSPH), is conducting a survey to explore facilitators and barriers to the coverage, access, and use of HPV vaccination services among girls aged 10-14 years in Uganda. To support this survey, MakSPH is recruiting five (5) Research Assistants to be attached to the study in various districts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the data collection activities of the study.
  • Administer informed consent and conduct interviews according to the study protocol.
  • Address questions from respondents before and during data collection.
  • Provide daily updates to investigators/supervisors.
  • Manage data collection and validation processes to ensure data quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by core investigators.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Public Health, Statistics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Prior experience in qualitative surveys.
    • Proficiency in English and local languages spoken in the study districts.
    • Proven ability to conduct in-depth interviews, with samples of de-identified transcripts.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
    • Over five years’ experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.
    • Willingness to work in any part of Uganda.
    • Possession of a certificate of completion in human research protection or good clinical practice.

Contract Duration:

Short-term (not more than one month).
