Job Description:
The World Bank’s Country Office in Uganda is seeking a dynamic and highly organized professional to serve as a Driver (level GA) based in Kampala. The successful candidate will work under the leadership of the Country Manager and day-to-day coordination of the Finance Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport authorized personnel to/from airports, meetings, appointments, and other official duties.
- Drive office vehicles ensuring the safety of staff, passengers, and other road users.
- Meet official personnel, including mission staff at the airport, and facilitate immigration and customs formalities.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and arrange for repairs as needed.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and equipped with a First Aid kit.
- Report accidents/incidents immediately and follow up with necessary procedures.
- Perform any other task as assigned by the Country Manager or supervisor.
Selection Criteria:
- High school education certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience with an international organization or development agency.
- Excellent knowledge of road safety and familiarity with traffic rules.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Knowledge of UN security systems and VHF Radio call is an advantage.
- Experience with software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
Work Hours: 8 hours per day
Experience: Minimum 60 months (5 years)
Education Level: High School
