Our mission includes research and capacity development to improve health outcomes across the continent.

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess OVC (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) households’ health and socio-economic situations, identify needs, and develop sustainable plans to improve their quality of life.
  • Support the enrollment of OVC beneficiaries into the program following MGLSD and PEPFAR guidelines.
  • Conduct home visits to track and assess enrolled OVC households, analyze their situations, and plan interventions to improve living conditions.
  • Collaborate with Community-Based Trainers (CBTs) to help caregivers develop sustainable economic plans to become primary caregivers for their families.
  • Provide and refer sustainable social support services, including economic strengthening, food and nutrition security, education support, legal and child protection, GBV (Gender-Based Violence) support, psychosocial support, and basic care.
  • Monitor and track OVC on ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) and support the formation and management of household support groups/VSLA (Village Savings and Loan Associations) to enhance adherence, economic sustainability, and social support.
  • Mentor and coach service providers, including para-social workers and CBTs, in case management and other OVC programming areas.
  • Offer technical support to sub-county program officers (e.g., CDOs).
  • Document project interventions through success stories and maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate project activities related to case management, health screening, stable VSLA, safe GBV screening, and OVC stakeholders within the sub-county.
  • Monitor and document progress of case management, socio-economic, social protection, and linkage interventions to ensure effectiveness in improving livelihoods.
  • Develop and support work plans, ensure alignment with activities, and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
  • Prepare and submit periodic progress reports to the OVC project officer.
  • Update files with relevant tools and case notes during each visit.
  • Collaborate with OVC data volunteers to update registers promptly.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the OVC project officer.

Academic Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field.

Person Specification:

  • Self-driven with the ability to work in remote areas.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle.
