Centenary Bank, also known as Centenary Rural Development Bank Limited, is a commercial bank in Uganda licensed by the Bank of Uganda. The bank focuses on providing banking services that contribute to rural development and financial inclusion.

Position Overview:
The Corporate Affairs Specialist will be responsible for implementing the Bank’s Sustainability and Corporate Affairs strategy to enhance its reputation and manage stakeholder relationships.

Reports to: Chief Manager Corporate Affairs & Communication

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and CSR:

  • Coordinate and implement ESG activities according to the Bank’s strategy, policies, and budget.
  • Monitor and ensure timely execution of ESG initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with key ESG partners and stakeholders.
  • Collect, report, and submit ESG information as per regulations and standards.
  • Oversee CSR and philanthropy activities in line with strategy and budget.
  • Evaluate and enhance the Bank’s performance in environmental, social, and governance practices.
  • Conduct research on ESG practices and assess risks and opportunities.
  • Integrate ESG considerations into investment decision-making.
  • Support reporting and evaluation of the ESG strategy.
  • Seek out ESG financing opportunities and partnerships.

Communication and Marketing Functions Support:

  • Support communication, marketing, and PR functions.
  • Coordinate bank events and media relations.
  • Promote the Bank’s ESG activities through various media.
  • Enhance visibility and reputation of the Bank’s ESG initiatives.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management:

  • Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with ESG partners, funders, and donors.

Corporate Affairs:

  • Formulate and coordinate corporate affairs strategy and activities.
  • Liaise with Centenary Foundation and update the Business Continuity Plan.
  • Support staff training activities.

Reporting:

  • Prepare periodic reports on ESG and Corporate Affairs.
  • Monitor ESG budget to minimize costs and maximize value.
  • Support annual report writing and integrated reporting on ESG.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Social Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant course in sustainability/ESG/Monitoring and Evaluation is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate affairs/sustainability role.
