Job Description: The Adara Group is seeking an exceptional Community Midwife to support the home follow-up component of the Hospital to Home (H2H) programme. This role involves providing support, care, and advice to families during the first six months following discharge from the Kiwoko Hospital (KH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Reporting to the H2H Community Midwife, the Community Midwife will support the home follow-up component of the H2H programme. The primary responsibilities include providing support, care, and advice to families during the first six months following discharge from KH NICU.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in training sessions for the Village Health Teams (VHTs).
- Provide supportive supervision and conduct home visits alongside VHTs for high-risk cases.
- Deliver continuous training and development at monthly VHT meetings.
- Perform administrative duties, including programme planning, reporting, and evaluation.
- Engage in community dialogue.
- Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team in collecting programme data.
Skills and Attributes:
- Passion for supporting newborns and families during the postpartum period.
- Excellent management and clinical skills.
- Aptitude for motivating a team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery, or Comprehensive Nursing.
- Knowledge of public health, newborn health, and community midwifery.
- Relevant professional experience.
Skills:
- Fluency in Luganda and in spoken and written English to the tertiary level.
- Effective engagement with the local community, including children.
- Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, including travel to villages around Nakaseke, Luwero, and Nakasongola districts. Preference will be given to applicants with established relationships and in-depth knowledge of these communities.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer use and excellent documentation skills are a must.
- Cultural Awareness: Highly developed cultural awareness and the ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Team Management: Experience managing and motivating a team.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, including a clear style of giving instructions.
- Interpersonal and Counselling Skills: Strong interpersonal and counselling skills.
- Time Management: Excellent time management and planning capacity.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational, administrative, and project management skills.
- Personal Attributes: Accountability, integrity, and trust.
