NIC General Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of NIC Holdings Limited (NIC). Incorporated on March 3, 2014, NIC General took over the general insurance businesses of NIC in compliance with the legal requirement for separation of insurance businesses under the Insurance (Amendment) Act.

NIC General Insurance is seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Finance Officer – Cash Office. This is a full-time position based in Kampala, Uganda.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is the collection of money, issuance of receipts, and preparation of cheques.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Money Collection and Custody
   • Collect and keep in safe custody all Corporation money prior to banking.
   • Issue receipts for all monies collected and keep in safe custody all issued receipts.
2. Receipts Management
   • Prepare summary receipts and update the receipt register daily.
   • Ensure total collection is reconciled with receipts issued and the receipt register daily.
3. Payment Processing
   • Ensure safe custody of all approved payment vouchers.
   • Process cheque payments and maintain the cheque register.
   • Prepare daily funds position and maintain an updated schedule of outstanding bills/payments.
4. Reporting
   • Prepare monthly summary of receipts and payments.
   • Prepare and present daily funds position reports.
5. Additional Duties
   • Perform any other professional duties as may be required from time to time.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a reputable university.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
• Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, particularly in MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to produce results under minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
