About Us:

The Women’s International Peace Centre, formerly Isis-WICCE, is a feminist organization founded in 1974 and based in Kampala, Uganda. Our mission is to ignite women’s leadership, amplify their voices, and deepen their impact in recreating peace. Our WEAVE model intersects research (on women’s specific experiences and needs), evidence-based advocacy (to influence national, regional, and international policy and practice), holistic healing (to enable women’s wellbeing and participation in peace processes), skills and movement building to equip WHRDs with necessary skills, build networks, and facilitate the exchange of strategies to advance women’s leadership for peace.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the National Coordinator and Advocacy and Strategic Partnership Coordinator, the Communications Officer will:

  • Support the development and implementation of communications strategies and plans.
  • Manage media and press relations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Information Management, Journalism, or a relevant field.
  • Additional Knowledge: Understanding of Gender, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mediation, and Reconciliation is an advantage.
  • Experience: Four years of progressively responsible work experience in communications, advocacy, research, and information.
  • Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills across a range of communications formats and platforms.
  • Additional Skills: Experience in graphic design, photography and photo editing, and/or web design is an asset.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
