Job Listing: UPDF General Recruitment Exercise 2024

Position: Regular Forces into Infantry Forces
Organization: Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF)
Number of Positions: 9627
Recruitment Dates: July 1, 2024 – July 14, 2024

Recruitment Procedure

The recruitment process for aspiring candidates will follow these steps:

  1. Recommendation Letters: Candidates must obtain recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, GISO, and DISO.
  2. Application Submission: Submit completed application forms to the office of the RDC for registration. Applications will then be collected by UPDF teams and forwarded to the office of Joint Staff Human Resource Management for shortlisting.
  3. Shortlisting: Successful applicants will be notified via District/City notice boards. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to designated recruitment centers for final interviews.
  4. Recruitment Quotas: The process will consider projected population figures of each District/City in Uganda to determine recruitment quotas.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Uganda with an original National Identity Card.
  • Medical Fitness: Must be fit and ready for medical and body fitness tests.
  • Age: Must be an adult male or female aged 18 – 22 years.
  • Education: Must have completed S.4 (UCE) between 2020 and 2023 and have passed English and Mathematics.
  • Application Endorsements: Application letters must be signed by LC I, LC II, LC III chairpersons, GISO or DISO, and RDC.
  • Residency and Conduct: Must be a resident of the area, disciplined, and with no criminal record.
