Project Information: The Climate Resilient Agribusiness for Tomorrow (CRAFT) project is implemented by SNV in partnership with other organizations to promote climate-smart agriculture practices in Uganda. The project aims to enhance sustainability, resilience, and livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
Job Description:
Job Purpose: The Communications Interns will support the dissemination of information, stories, knowledge harvesting, and documentation for the CRAFT project in Uganda. They will work closely with Business Champions (BCs) to develop communication plans, create engaging content, and showcase success stories from project interventions.
Key Position Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist BCs in developing and implementing communication plans tailored to local contexts and target audiences.
- Create engaging content for various communication channels, including social media, websites, newsletters, and print materials.
- Support the organization and facilitation of training workshops, farmer field days, and community events.
- Collaborate with BCs to produce multimedia materials highlighting success stories and best practices.
- Conduct interviews and gather testimonials from smallholder farmers to showcase the impact of CRAFT interventions.
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication activities, collecting feedback from stakeholders.
- Visit rural areas to acquaint with local contexts and support BCs in communication efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communication or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms.
- Creativity and attention to detail in designing communication materials.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.
- Knowledge of agriculture, climate change, and sustainable development issues is desirable.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in local languages spoken in project areas is an advantage.
