Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Project Manager, the Project Officer – Psychosocial is responsible for providing day-to-day psychological support to beneficiaries, as well as offering specialized counseling and support for child protection and GBV (Gender-Based Violence) cases.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Implementation:
- Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, NGOs, implementing partners, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Collect and tabulate field data on project activities, updating the Project Manager on the progress of MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) activities.
- Conduct MHPSS assessments using participatory approaches for all beneficiaries to assess project impacts.
- Supervise PSS (Psychosocial Support) project Assistants, ensuring regular visits to beneficiary sites and providing necessary support.
- Provide various psychosocial support activities in the settlement, catering to the needs of beneficiaries of different ages, genders, and abilities.
- Supervise case management for persons with psychosocial problems, coordinating with other service providers.
- Lead outreach activities, organize and implement trainings and workshops, and liaise with community members and leaders.
- Promote community participation in project activities and capacity building for project Assistants and Community structures.
Project Planning:
- Assist in preparing work plans, case follow-ups, and reports on psychosocial activities as per project requirements.
Staff Management:
- Train and mentor LWF community-based facilitators and community counsellors.
- Ensure active participation of field staff, beneficiaries, and intermediaries in project activities.
Financial Management / Budget Monitoring & Control:
- Ensure proper documentation and accountability for project expenses.
Project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Collaborate with the M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) team to monitor project performance.
- Ensure mapping of beneficiaries and timely sharing of information.
Other:
- Adhere to child protection/psychosocial support principles, respecting confidentiality and a child-centered approach.
- Commitment to and understanding of LWF aims, values, and principles, including a rights-based approach.
