Accounts Assistant (Maternity Cover) Position Available at CARE Uganda

CARE Uganda, part of the global leader CARE International, focused on ending poverty and achieving social justice, is currently seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant for Maternity Cover, specializing in Payments. This temporary role is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference and contributing to our mission of saving lives, defeating poverty, and fighting for social justice, with a special focus on empowering women and girls.
Job Summary: The Accounts Assistant – Maternity Cover (Payments) will play a crucial role in managing all cash receipts and payments. The role includes ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the organization’s payments, including vendor invoices, and monitoring bank balances. This position demands adherence to CARE Uganda’s financial rules, regulations, policies, and strategies and reports directly to the accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review all payment/receipt documents for completeness, adherence to policies and procedures, and ensure accurate documentation before submission for posting.
- Weekly monitoring of cash balances to ensure sufficient funds for current and future activities.
- Selection and timely payment of pay cycle vouchers.
- Initiate mobile money payments through the online platform.
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Education/Training: Minimum of a Diploma in Accounting/ ATD/ CPA Level 2.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in accounting.
Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with team members and across departments.
- Capable of working under pressure and tight deadlines.
Working Location: The position is based in Kampala, Uganda.
