Join the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a Senior Project Assistant for the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion programme. If you are passionate about promoting humane and orderly migration, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized support to the National Programme Officer (NPO) for the implementation of the BRMM project and related initiatives.
- Liaise with government institutions, UN agencies, and technical partners on labour mobility and human development issues.
- Coordinate knowledge management aspects and facilitate information sharing with stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing periodic reports for LMI projects, ensuring compliance with IOM and donor requirements.
- Act as the focal point for the Social Protection Development Partners Working Group.
- Draft speeches, press releases, and position papers related to LMI activities in Uganda.
- Conduct research on local LMI issues and provide background information for project proposals.
- Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including government, civil society, and the private sector.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts for labour migration governance projects.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and participate in relevant conferences and workshops.
- Coordinate project-related procurement activities and prepare purchase requisitions.
- Coach and guide junior colleagues and interns.
- Undertake duty travel as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree in Social/Political Sciences, International Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
- 4 years of relevant professional experience with a university degree, or 6 years with a higher secondary school diploma.
- Experience in coordination with government authorities, UN agencies, and local communities.
- Familiarity with UN and non-UN humanitarian actors.
- Experience in project management, logistics, and administrative and financial management.
- Knowledge of Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion portfolio.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and information management skills.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office programmes and knowledge of collaboration platforms.
- Knowledge of financial management systems.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and facilitating meetings and training.
- Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
