As a Finance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, assisting with budgeting, and contributing to compliance with financial regulations. Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and databases.
- Ensure proper documentation and recording of all financial transactions according to organizational policies and accounting standards.
- Regularly reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.
Invoice Processing and Payments:
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements accurately and promptly.
- Verify invoices for accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Prepare and issue payments to vendors and suppliers following approved payment methods.
Budget Support:
- Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets in collaboration with the finance team and departmental managers.
- Track budget expenditures, analyze variances, and prepare reports for management review.
- Provide support in identifying areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and policies.
- File returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, NSSF, LST) and support internal and external audits with required documentation.
Administrative Support:
- Assist in preparing financial documents, reports, and presentations as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and support cross-functional projects.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with financial software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial terminology.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CFA is desirable. Women are encouraged to apply.
