Job Listing: TeamUp Coach – Kyangwali
Job Description:
War Child Holland (WCH) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering children, young people, and adults to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of those affected by conflict. We are seeking to recruit a Technical Coach to support the implementation of TeamUp by partners across refugee settlements and vulnerable host communities in Uganda. TeamUp is a psychosocial support intervention developed to provide refugee children aged 6 to 17 years with structured recreational activities aimed at improving their psychosocial well-being and resilience.
Objective of the Job:
To support partners in planning and implementing TeamUp in identified schools and locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate TeamUp trainings:
- Select trainers from the pool of Trainers of Trainers (ToTs).
- Support training of partner staff.
- Track the certification process for facilitators and trainers.
- Conduct quality visits to partner staff to ensure adherence to quality standards:
- Ensure facilitators are trained on methodology.
- Monitor the use of tool kits by facilitators.
- Ensure adherence to fidelity checklists and daily attendance tracking.
- Develop mentorship and coaching plans.
- Monitor and mentor facilitators and trainers.
- Conduct feedback meetings with facilitators/teachers.
- Conduct monthly/quarterly feedback sessions with children.
- Refer children with additional Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) needs to appropriate service providers.
- Update WCH scaling plan by:
- Tracking changes in the rollout of TeamUp by partners.
- Tracking innovations by partners.
- Documenting lessons learned during implementation.
- Conducting awareness-raising on the TeamUp methodology at various levels.
- Participate in consortium coordination meetings.
- Support in documenting stories of change with support from WCH Country office.
- Provide weekly updates, monthly, and quarterly reports on the TeamUp implementation.
Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work & Administration, Mental Health, or any other relevant degree.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
- Child-friendly demeanor, acting in the best interest of the child, and physically active.
- Good social and communication skills, including active participation in movement-based activities.
- Experience working with large and small groups of children.
- Planning, implementation, and time management skills.
- Experience in planning, conducting, and implementing structured recreational activities for children.
- Flexibility, clear overview, and capability to facilitate activities in a child-friendly manner.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Proficiency in English language (speaking, writing, and understanding).
- Understanding of Child Safety and a clean criminal record.
Additional Qualifications:
- University qualification in sport or social work is a plus.
- First Aid certificate is a plus.
- Experience in identification and referral for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is an added value.
- Knowledge of TeamUp is an added value.
