Job Description:

GGGI, hosted in Uganda by the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, is seeking a Senior Assistant to support the Project Manager in day-to-day project activities for the Support Program to Enhance Access and Retention of Climate Finance (Spear-CF) project. The main objective of Spear-CF is to enhance access and retention of climate finance in Uganda to support sustainable development goals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the preparation of concept notes, Project Identification Forms (PIFs), and proposals.
  2. Coordinate the collection of documents from key partners and contribute to the development of project documents.
  3. Support stakeholder engagements and ensure inclusivity.
  4. Coordinate consultants’ activities for the GGGI Uganda CF Program.
  5. Contribute to the preparation of donor reports.
  6. Support alignment of projects with donors’ strategies and government directions.
  7. Conduct background research for proposal development.
  8. Maintain relationships with national counterparts and key stakeholders.
  9. Assist in research and analysis of relevant information and knowledge.
  10. Assist in the assessment of program needs and resources.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, climate change, economics, or related field.
  • Preferred 3 years of project experience in climate change adaptation or mitigation projects.
  • Understanding of global climate finance mechanisms and trends.
  • Experience working in international organizations is an advantage.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Based in Kampala, Uganda.
  • Expected to report directly to the Project Manager.
  • Diplomatic Post for international candidates.
  • Child protection policy adherence required.
