Position: Project Officer Health and Nutrition
Report to: Area Programme Coordinator
Location: Lwamaggwa, Rakai District
Purpose of the Position:
The Project Officer Health and Nutrition will be responsible for implementing field-level health technical program activities and relevant sponsorship performance in accordance with targets and partnership standards, contributing to sustained and improved child wellbeing.
Key Outputs/Responsibilities:
Project Planning, Implementation, and Reporting:
- Participate in planning, budgeting, and preparation of work plans.
- Implement planned health activities and monitor/report progress.
- Facilitate and monitor community-level engagements and activities.
- Identify, support, and facilitate local-level health partners.
- Communicate and collaborate with local health facilities and Community Health Workers.
- Conduct Health camps and integrate Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) into the program.
- Support district-wide activities and document program progress.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:
- Support community participation in health programs and management.
- Mobilize and sensitize community members on health issues.
- Build capacity of children, families, and community to engage local leaders.
- Mobilize communities for child health days and national campaigns.
- Engage Faith leaders in health activities and track cases addressed.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Analyze and follow up on health challenges of Registered Children (RCs).
- Compile monitoring reports and update databases.
- Support health facility teams in data review and analysis.
- Conduct quarterly reflection meetings with Community Health workers.
Child Protection and Wellbeing:
- Monitor wellbeing and child abuse cases, reporting incidents.
- Sensitize children, guardians/parents, and stakeholders on children’s rights.
- Ensure volunteers interacting with children are sensitized on child protection.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a Degree in nursing, nutrition, clinical medicine, public health, or related fields.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills.
- Community mobilization, networking, and influencing skills.
- Ability to communicate in applicable local language(s).
- Ability to ride a motorcycle.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community health and engagement.
- Willingness to stay in rural settings and participate in Christian activities.
