Job Title: Land and Social Intern
Organization: East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
Work Place: Kampala
Key responsibilities:
Land Acquisition and Title Research:
- Assist in researching and analyzing land titles and ownership to facilitate the acquisition process.
- Support the documentation of land-related information and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Community Engagement:
- Work closely with community leaders and members to understand their perspectives, concerns, and expectations.
- Assist in organizing community meetings and events to foster open communication and address community needs.
Resettlement Planning:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of resettlement plans, ensuring they align with regulatory standards and community well-being.
- Assist in the identification and documentation of affected households and individuals.
Social Impact Assessment:
- Participate in the assessment of the social impacts of the project on local communities.
- Collaborate with external consultants and internal teams to gather data and insights for impact assessments.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of land acquisition, community engagements, and resettlement activities.
- Prepare reports summarizing key findings, challenges, and progress in land and social aspects of the project.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Collaborate with government agencies, PAPS, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders involved in land and social aspects.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and information sharing.
Compliance Monitoring:
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with social and environmental standards.
- Contribute to the development of strategies to address non-compliance issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing relevant degree programs in social sciences, anthropology, environmental studies, Engineers, Surveyors, and Community Development Studies) from recognized University
- Must provide an Introduction letter from the university and copy of student I.D.
- Must provide a partial transcript/testimonial showing current academic scores with a minimum of an
upper-second degree. - Must be available full-time for the duration of the internship period.
- Must write and submit an internship application letter.
