Infectious Diseases Institute Profile:

The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems in Africa with strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research, and capacity development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach. IDI invites applications for the following full-time positions for upcoming US government (USAID) sponsored projects for delivery of services for HIV/AIDS and related health conditions.

 

 

Job Summary:

Sample and Result transportation and sometimes redistribution of Lab supplies as needed within Omoro District.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Follow daily and weekly schedule of visits to the hospital, health centers, and courier
  • Collect samples from the facilities and deliver them to the hub and /or courier timely
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality and protection of client results and any other related information during the transportation results to the health facilities.
  • Ensure safety and security of client samples during transportation to the lab
  • Ensure that the CPHL sample pickup driver picks results/deliver from the hub twice a week
  • Keep motorbike and other equipment including safety gear and carrying box well maintained and safe and secure.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of samples collected, results picked and delivered, bike maintenance/repairs and daily movements made
  • Work with the hub coordinator and DLFPs to ensure timely distribution of EQA samples
  • Communicate (phone or physical) immediately to the hub coordinator in case of inability to move to the peripheral facilities or if anything happens which interferes with sample transportation
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports to the hub coordinator
  • Always keep a copy of valid riders’ permit as guided by the Traffic and Road Safety act of Uganda.
  • Timely response and availability at the required health facility whenever called upon to offer support
  • Keep the motorcycle used in a good road worthy condition.
  • Provide correct documents as part of accountability of the fuel used and any repair done monthly.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications for IDI Uganda Jobs 2022:

  • Uganda Certificate of Education with a credit in English.
  • Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Valid Riding Permit/License
  • Experience working Human biological Triple packaging and transport
  • Ability to use Sample Tracking Smart phones
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to take instructions
  • Ability to use personal judgment-
  • Able to work hours outside of the standard workday as required.
