Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200. The Mission of UWA is: “To conserve, economically develop and sustainably manage the wildlife and protected areas of Uganda in partnership with neighbouring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Warden Procurement will interface and participate in planning, organizing and co-coordinating all Procurement and Disposal activities in the Organization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Take part in preparation and issue of Standard Bidding Documents (SBD) for goods, services and works required by User Department.
- Prepare prompt monthly reports to Contracts Committee for all Micro Procurement transactions done within UWA and ensure submission to PPDA.
- Prepare and issue Local Purchase Orders for all Procurement transaction of goods, services and works required by the User Department.
- Take part in co-coordinating all Procurement and Disposal activities within UWA; including receiving and opening of Bids.
- Liaise with User Departments to develop appropriate specifications, Scope of works and Terms of reference for goods, works and services respectively.
- Maintain a proper archive of records for all Procurement and Disposal activities.
- Receive and process all Procurement and Disposal requisitions from the User Departments as required.
- Receive and register bids.
- Distribute bidding documents and notices.
- Deal with Suppliers in matters regarding shortages, rejections or any other complaint as reported by Stores Staff.
- Take part in making suggestions about the latest and more economical procurement requirements from the User departments.
- Make suggestions about the latest and economical procurement options for users.
- Perform any other official duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- The applicant should hold an Honours Bachelors Degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management from a recognized university or awarding Institution.
- A minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience from a reputable Organization.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Excellent analytical and presentation skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent customer care skills
- Concern for quality and standards
- Leadership and team work
- High moral integrity
