National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) Profile:

The National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) is mandated to coordinate, oversee and guide agricultural research in Uganda. Over the years, NARO has generated technologies and products with Intellectual Property (IP) and commercial potential guided by relevant policies under her mission of innovating for sustainable agricultural transformation.

About USAID Project:

USAID is partnering with NARO through Feed the Future (FtF) – NARO Funding Framework to strengthen NARO’s institutional capacity to enhance rapid and sustained commercialization of her research technologies for transformation of people’s livelihoods.

 

 

Job Summary:

The Administrative officer will play an active role in the management of the day-to-day office operations, ensuring that staff are facilitated to perform their duties in a conducive environment.

 

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative duties in the commercialization office providing support services for the coordination and implementation of activities related to the Feed the future (FtF) Agriculture research project and any other activities as guided by the Deputy Director General- Agriculture Technology promotion (DDG-ATP).
  • Maintain general correspondence/documents relating to commercialization activities in NARO and in liaison with the partners coordinate timely submission of scheduled periodic reports
  • Supervise and maintain office equipment and related facilities and ensure the office equipment are properly handled.
  • Receive guests in the office and arrange their appointments, bookings and travel as assigned by the supervisor
  • Be responsible for the incubation center supplies, communication, meetings, trainings workshops, conferences and travel necessary for implementation of commercialization related activities.
  • Support the Directorate of Agriculture technology promotion (DATP) office to effectively coordinate the Feed the Future Activity and any other project administration
  • Offer other support services to operations of the DATP guided by the DDG-ATP.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or relevant field. Any post graduate qualification preferably a diploma in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage
  • Computer literate with knowledge in Microsoft office applications such as excel, word and power point presentation
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
