In Uganda, HealthRight implements mental health programs in collaboration with the Government of Uganda and other stakeholders.
Job Summary
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will be working under the supervision and guidance of the Project Coordinator and Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, based in the HealthRight field office in Arua district. The M&E Assistant will work closely with all program staff in the field to implement the HealthRight M&E commitments and improve program quality through enhanced data management systems and processes supporting all project-related activities. The position will support M&E in the field office. The M&E Assistant will support the M&E Coordinator and Project Coordinator in managing the day-to-day M&E tasks arising in the field office and providing technical support to the field teams to ensure effective implementation of the project.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that data use procedures are streamlined and support is provided to HealthRight staff and partners.
- Participate in regular data verification and audit exercises to assess the quality of data reported and address any anomalies identified.
- Submit to the M&E Coordinator monthly and quarterly updates and reports on M&E activities conducted in the field.
- Execute routine data collection and entry and support other research assistants in data collection, entry, and cleaning to ensure quality.
- Ensure safe transportation of data from the collection points to storage facilities.
- Translate data collection tools and collected data.
- Transcribe qualitative data, enter quantitative data.
- Code and verify data in accordance with specified coding and data cleaning procedures.
- Conduct basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Ensure that complete, accurate, clean and consistent data is shared with the project coordinator and collaborators for further data analysis and action planning.
- Ensure proper filing of M&E documents including questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets among others.
- Keep the M&E database up to date.
- Submit to the project coordinator and collaborators weekly and monthly updates on data collected in the field.
- With support from the project coordinator, participate in capacity building and mentorship activities for research assistants focused on data collection and cleaning.
- Ensure that the confidentiality of HealthRight and partner data is protected.
- Participate in regular data verification and audit exercises to assess the quality of data reported and address any anomalies identified.
- Help program staff prepare periodic high-quality reports reflecting their M&E data.
- Support with the development of data collection standard operating procedures.
- Foster good relationships and team spirit with the program and implementing partners in the field.
- Perform any other M&E tasks assigned by the project coordinator and/or his/her other supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Information Technology, Development Studies, Statistics or a related discipline with 2 -3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data analysis using STATA or any other software is considered an advantage.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
