The Agricultural Business Initiative Group is a social enterprise with the overall vision to contribute to a competitive and sustainable agriculture and agribusiness sector in Uganda in support of equitable wealth creation in Uganda. The aBi Group consists of two companies Limited by Guarantee; aBi Development and aBi Finance. The main focus of aBi Development is to increase agricultural production and value addition by extending matching grants and business development services (BDS) to agribusinesses, farmer organizations and intermediaries. The grants and BDS enhance planning and management, production and business infrastructure, and upstream and downstream market linkages of producers and agribusinesses. aBi Finance expands access to business finance for agricultural producers and agribusinesses by offering to Financial Institutions (FIs), financial incentives and infrastructure that make lending to the agricultural sector more attractive and less risky.

 

 

Job Profile

Project Officers plan and coordinate project activities, including scheduling, reporting and document control.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Main Purpose
• The role of the Project Officer is to provide administrative support to the Portfolio Management Team.
• The Project Officer shall ensure excellent relationships with, and service delivery to, all stakeholders involved in projects, especially implementing partners.
• S/he plays an important role in ensuring that the logistical arrangements associated with programme design, partner on-boarding and project implementation are managed efficiently.
• The job holder has the capacity to make a significant contribution towards the effectiveness of the department.

Area of Responsibility:
Portfolio Development
• As requested by the Head of Portfolio, work participatively with colleagues to ensure an efficient portfolio management process.

Project Implementation
• Contribute towards the implementation of projects, ensuring that the desired results and final impact are achieved on time and to standard.
Learning and Knowledge Management
• Support the team in collecting and analyzing the data required for monitoring , evaluation and learning so that learning from aBi projects can be utilised to maximize aBi’s current and future impact.
Communications & Advocacy
• Work with colleagues to carry out communications and advocacy activities as per the communications strategy and plan.
General Administrative Support
• Provide general administrative support and record-keeping to assist the smooth operations of the department.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications for 

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness or Agriculture.
Details of experience
• 2 years’ post-graduation experience in the agribusiness sector.
• Proven experience in managing logistics and coordination of team activities.
• MS Office experience.
