Profile:
Katosi Women Development Trust (KWDT) is a non-governmental women’s organization that started in 1996 and was registered with NGO Bureau in 2007. KWDT is committed to empowering rural fisherwomen to engage in their development processes. The organisation focuses on women economic empowerment, improvement of health through access to water, sanitation and hygiene, development of formal and non-formal education with environmental conservation as crosscutting thematic area.
With support from the GIZ Responsible Fisheries Business Chains Projects (RFBCP). KWDT seeks to support and strengthen women engagement in the Nile perch fisheries businesses through Business Development Services Training. The training will address major needs of SMEs in the fisheries sector through the provision of business training and advisory services in several areas such as financial management, enterprise training, fish handling and preservation and responsible fisheries. KWDT will focus on working with women in fisheries in the 5 districts of Mukono, Wakiso, Buikwe, Kalangala and Buvuma during a period of 21 months.
KWDT seeks to recruit Field Trainers who are highly motivated, organized and committed to strengthening women and fisherfolk engaged in sustainable Nile perch fisheries businesses. The applicants must be passionate to support rural fisherwomen to run and operate successful fisheries business enterprises. She/he must be ready to demonstrate integrity by modelling KWDT values and ethical standards while promoting its vision, mission and strategic goals. The Field trainers will report to the Project Coordinator. He/ She will be stationed in Mukono, Wakiso, Buikwe, Kalangala and Buvuma with periodic visits to Kampala head office and other districts of the project intervention.
Job Profile:
Field Trainers are required for each of the districts of Mukono, Wakiso, Buikwe. Kalangala and Buvuma.
Roles and responsibilities:
• Prepare for the training, develop detailed plans for training, interpret the training curriculum, conduct training using the manual, , evaluate and follow up.
• Develop detailed activity work plans and manage the implementation of the project activities at the district level.
• Maintain contact with project beneficiaries and monitor women fisheries businesses and progress among beneficiaries.
• Develop monthly programs performance reports
• Participate actively in the documentation of success stories, lessons learnt during project implementation
• Liaise with Fisheries officer, local leaders and other actors in a similar field for cross-learning to enhance project results
• Facilitate exchange visits for the beneficiaries at the district level
• Carry out all procurement and financial accountability in line with KWDT policies.
• Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications
Skills
• The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following areas, Social Sciences, Adult and Community Education, Development Studies, Business Studies or equivalent by professional experience.
Experience
• Strong experience in adult facilitation and training with a minimum of three years experience in the design and direct delivery of training sessions especially in rural communities
• Experience in and ability to evaluate a training program and coherently match the training outcomes to the training objectives.
• Has knowledge and experience in project monitoring and reporting
Competencies
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Demonstrate interest in rural development
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and result-oriented
• Knowledge on use of a computer with a focus on MS Word processing, Excel and Powerpoint Ability to communicate in the local language of that area e.g., Luganda and Lusoga
Good Attributes
• A strategic thinker who possesses strong business acumen and has a good grasp of how the training process directly affects the business.
• The ability to link the training concepts to the training outcomes and anticipate
