USAID RHITES-N Lango Project Profile:
The USAID Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango (USAID RHITES-N, Lango) is a five years project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through a contract award to John Snow Inc. (JSI). The project is implemented in partnership with AMREF Health Africa, Another Option LLC, Doctors with Africa (CUAMM), the Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) and a number of civil society organizations (CSOs) including the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC).
JCRC received a sub-award from JSI (Award # 13759-CR-05) to provide support to John Snow, Inc. (JSI) as it implements the Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services-North, Lango (RHITES-N, Lango)
Through this award, JCRC is implementing community HIV/TB prevention, care and treatment services in four (4) districts of Oyam, Otuke, Lira and Alebtong to directly benefit both general and key/priority populations and contribute to the achievement of three major objectives including;
- To increase the availability and accessibility of health services in the region
- To improve health systems for quality services delivery and
- To increase the adoption of positive health behaviours
Job Profile:
A clinical officer performs general and specialized medical duties such as diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury, ordering and interpreting medical tests, performing routine medical and surgical procedures, referring patients to other practitioners and managing health departments, institutions, and projects.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and implementation of HIV/AIDS Clinic work plans.
- Offer comprehensive clinical care to patients, diagnosing, treating and managing patients
- Assist the project coordinator to maximize the continuum of care between the HIV/AIDS Clinic and other aspects of the program.
- Participate in the delivery of quality health care to patients.
- Participate in research activities.
- Provide information to clients aimed at reducing vulnerability to AIDs and other HIV related infection
- Ensure that the staff adhere to relevant codes of conduct and ethics.
- Participate in training of other workers through regular CMEs, mentorships and other in-service training.
- Provide technical support to nurses and counsellors.
- Participate in quality improvement activities aimed at improving service delivery and clinical outcomes.
- Manages nursing activities. Provides adequate staffing and supervision. Participates in and contributes to staff development programs.
- Participate in ensuring use of materials related to HIV/AIDS care and treatment, including clinical guidelines, protocols, algorithms, drug formularies, training materials, and monitoring and evaluation tools Improve adherence support systems.
- Identifies expected health outcomes. Involves the patient, family, and community in setting realistic goals to achieve desired outcomes.
- Plans comprehensive care that delineates interventions to attain expected outcomes. Collaborates with other disciplines. Ensures nursing actions are designed to promote, maintain, and restore patient.
- Participate in improving referral systems and community linkages through collaboration with the community in-charge.
Minimum Qualifications
- A diploma in Clinical Medicine. Any added qualifications will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years’ clinical work experience gained through serving within a government institution or PEPFAR funded program
- Possession of a valid registration certificate from the Allied Health Professional Council
- Excellent communication or interpersonal skills is a must.
- Ability and willingness to reside in and work within Lira district.
- Previous experience in an HIV/AIDS-related field will be an added advantage.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills Preparing and submitting reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-point).
