Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda Profile:
The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).
Job Description:
The Investments Officer will play a supporting role in trade execution, monitoring, and financial reporting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Carryout investments in line with the Fund’s investment policies.
- Support senior staff in identifying and structuring investments, departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide the follow-up to both the new investments generated and other investments already in the Fund’s portfolio through collaboration with Finance department.
- Liaises and provides necessary accounting/administration information to Finance Team.
- Prepares investment memorandums and supporting documentation to be presented to the Fund’s Investment Management Committee for each prospective investment.
- Monitors and tracks financial performance of investments to ensure that revenue interest payments achieve budgeted targets.
- Engages Fund managers on a regular basis for reconciliation purposes.
- Utilizes the Fund’s Finance’s financial reporting systems to monitor and measure investment performance.
- Prepares and delivers reports on financial performance for internal purposes and for inclusion in reports to the Fund’s Board of Directors;
- Provides financial analysis support;
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.
- Liaises and provides relevant information to the Finance Team in the preparation of the annual accounts.
- Assists both the internal and external auditors.
- Helps to prepare and write periodic asset reports and any other ad hoc reports as required.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.
Key Results:
- Periodic valuation reports.
- Periodic cash statements.
- Reconciliation schedules for portfolio expenses.
- Reports on portfolio performance in line with budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) Investment Officer job placement must hold a first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, banking, economics, statistics, mathematics or related area, from an accredited institution, is essential.
- Professional certification in accounting or finance is desirable;
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS office packages is desirable.
- No prior work experience is required.
