The Seas of Change project integrates regenerative agriculture (RA) and productive use of renewable energy (PURE) to drive systemic transformation. It leverages partnerships and ecosystem expertise to foster equitable, secure, and sustainable futures for communities across Uganda and East Africa. SNV’s role centers on facilitation, coordination, and fostering innovation.
Job Summary
The MEL Officer will design and implement monitoring frameworks to track progress, analyze data, and assess project impacts. By fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the MEL Officer ensures alignment with project goals, facilitates learning, and enhances decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Frameworks
- Design and implement monitoring frameworks to track project activities and outcomes.
- Collaborate with the MEL Advisor to establish effective frameworks for measuring progress.
- Develop plans outlining objectives, indicators, and data collection methodologies.
Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and report data on project outcomes, impacts, and outputs.
- Conduct regular field visits and assessments to identify improvements.
- Perform data quality assessments and implement corrective measures.
Reporting and Insights
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to refine strategies and guide decision-making.
- Document and disseminate knowledge products, including case studies and lessons learned.
- Organize learning and reflection sessions for stakeholders and team members.
Capacity Building and Training
- Strengthen the M&E skills of team members and partners through targeted training.
- Support project staff and partners in adhering to reporting standards and timelines.
Evaluation and Problem Solving
- Lead evaluations to assess the program’s effectiveness and impact on target populations.
- Analyze data to extract actionable insights and address challenges proactively.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in monitoring and evaluation, particularly in energy-related projects.
- Expertise: Proven ability to design evaluations, collect and analyze data, and report findings effectively.
- Skills: Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills; ability to identify problems and achieve results.
- Focus: High standards for quality and continuous improvement.
