About the STAR Project

The Strengthening Agribusiness Resilience and Competitiveness (STAR) project, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is implemented by ITC (2022–2026). The project aims to enhance the resilience and competitiveness of MSMEs and producers in Northern and North-Eastern Uganda by focusing on cassava, shea, and oilseed value chains.

Job Overview

The Associate Programme Officer will support monitoring and evaluation (M&E), communication, and partnership engagement with implementing partners and KOICA.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate project implementation, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement M&E tools and frameworks for internal use and with implementing partners.
  • Prepare internal and external progress reports and communication materials, including newsletters, videos, and promotional content.
  • Assist in drafting grant agreements, MoUs, and partnership documents aligned with programme goals.
  • Support the day-to-day implementation of activities and monitor implementing partners’ progress.
  • Conduct research, statistical analysis, and prepare presentations and reports to support decision-making.
  • Facilitate consultative meetings, conferences, and training workshops, including preparing background documents and handling logistics.
  • Undertake outreach activities and field missions, providing administrative and substantive support.

Note: The position requires frequent travel to rural areas in Uganda.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business management, economics, environmental science, environmental engineering, international development, or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree with an additional two years of relevant experience may substitute for an advanced degree.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in climate resilience and agribusiness development.
  • Previous experience working with development institutions, NGOs, and KOICA projects is an advantage.

Languages

  • Advanced knowledge of English.
  • Knowledge of Korean is an advantage.
