Role Overview
The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) will lead Bank of Africa’s digital transformation, integrating cutting-edge technologies into the Bank’s operations and customer solutions. The role involves driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering sustainable growth through a customer-centric, digital-first approach.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy and Transformation
- Develop and implement the Bank’s digital transformation strategy aligned with overall business goals.
- Drive adoption of innovative technologies to deliver customer-focused banking solutions.
- Identify opportunities for digitization across products, operations, and customer engagements.
Customer Experience and Innovation
- Create and implement customer-centric digital platforms to improve user experience.
- Monitor fintech trends to recommend and integrate relevant technologies.
- Lead development of digital products, including mobile banking apps, online platforms, and payment solutions.
Technology Integration
- Collaborate with the Head of ICT to align IT infrastructure with digital initiatives.
- Ensure smooth integration of legacy systems with modern digital platforms.
- Promote use of APIs and cloud-based solutions.
Business Development and Revenue Growth
- Expand the Bank’s digital product portfolio to drive revenue growth.
- Develop partnerships with fintechs, telecoms, and other stakeholders.
- Lead sandboxing initiatives to test digital products in underserved markets.
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations, cybersecurity standards, and data privacy laws.
- Lead risk assessments and implement robust frameworks for digital security.
Leadership and Team Building
- Build and lead a high-performing digital team.
- Foster a culture of innovation and agility.
- Collaborate with other C-level executives to embed digital thinking across departments.
Key Performance Indicators
- Growth in digital channel adoption (e.g., mobile banking penetration rates).
- Increase in revenue from digital products and channels.
- Improved customer satisfaction scores.
- Reduction in operational costs through digital automation.
- Timely implementation of digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) in Technology Management or related discipline preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years in banking, digital transformation, or fintech, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful digital initiatives in financial services.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and partnerships.
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of digital banking trends and fintech ecosystems.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, API development, and cloud systems.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data analytics, and CRM tools.
Soft Skills
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Leadership and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
