Job Description:

The Programme Analyst will lead and manage the UNV Field Unit in Uganda. This position is responsible for strategic planning, mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers, administrative support, and advocacy for UNV interests in the country. The role involves increasing volunteer presence in Uganda through programmatic and partnership efforts, as well as building relationships with key stakeholders and supporting the coordination of activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. UN Volunteer Mobilization and Management:
    • Liaise with UN agencies in Uganda to raise awareness about UNV’s mandate and offerings.
    • Identify volunteer placement opportunities and increase volunteer assignments.
    • Provide support to UN Volunteers by ensuring proper briefing and debriefing.
    • Monitor volunteer well-being and performance through field visits.
  2. Advocacy, Partnership Building, and UNV Programme Integration:
    • Lead advocacy efforts to promote UNV’s role in Uganda.
    • Establish partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, civil society, and private sector.
    • Participate in UN planning processes, technical missions, and funding appeals.
  3. Management:
    • Develop and manage the Field Unit’s annual work plan and budget.
    • Supervise and support staff, including performance assessment and capacity development.

Education and Experience:

  • Education:
    • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, international development, project management, or related fields.
    • Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in humanitarian, development, or peace-related fields.
    • Experience in partnership building, inter-agency cooperation, and volunteer management is preferred.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and digital tools.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and Swahili.
