Job Overview
World Vision Uganda seeks a Senior Risk and Compliance Officer responsible for managing enterprise risk and ensuring compliance across the organization. This role involves monitoring risk frameworks, supporting audits, and leading compliance initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Risk Management & Compliance
- Act as the Risk Prime for World Vision Uganda, overseeing and updating risk registers.
- Use Riskonnect to identify, analyze, and evaluate risks; update the platform regularly.
- Prepare Top Risks reports and assess organization-wide risk profiles.
- Conduct annual ERM assessments and advise on framework improvements.
- Engage senior management on risk ownership and compliance controls.
- Ensure adherence to donor requirements, policies, and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate existing controls and offer feedback on their effectiveness.
2. Audit, Compliance, Investigations, Anti-Corruption & Accountability
- Assist in audits, compliance activities, and investigations.
- Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and ensure issues are resolved within 90 days.
- Analyze audit and compliance findings, advising relevant stakeholders on corrective actions.
- Lead implementation of the Anti-Corruption & Accountability Framework.
3. Action Plan Monitoring, Communication, & Reporting
- Track action plan implementation to align risk treatment with goals.
- Provide risk updates to senior management and escalate issues when necessary.
- Communicate key risk reports to senior management and regional authorities.
4. Strategic Planning & Budget Management
- Develop an annual risk management work plan and budget aligned with office objectives.
5. Training & Capacity Building
- Design and deliver ERM training sessions for board members, managers, and staff.
- Train managers in using Riskonnect and ERM tools.
6. Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Law, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in risk management and compliance, including ERM program management.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying risk issues to diverse audiences.
Certifications (recommended):
- Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
Preferred Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of ERM principles and proficiency with risk management tools like Riskonnect.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Background in strategic risk management.
- Experience working in international NGOs or humanitarian organizations is highly preferred.
