Job Summary
World Vision Uganda is looking for a Nutrition Project Coordinator to oversee the planning, implementation, and management of its nutrition programs in Bidi Bidi and Rwamwanja. The successful candidate will coordinate with partners, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and lead a team to achieve project goals focused on improving community health and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
- Lead the planning, organization, and implementation of project activities and budgeting with Nutrition Officers and Assistants.
- Collaborate with Food Assistance Manager and Senior Nutrition Officers to uphold program quality and meet donor requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to staff and volunteers on nutrition-related activities.
- Coordinate with humanitarian actors and donors in nutrition and food security (e.g., WFP, UNHCR, MoH).
- Monitor budget performance and advise management, ensuring proper use of materials and assets.
- Track project indicators to meet performance outcomes.
Capacity Building and Training
- Lead training for staff on project tools, IMAM guidelines, and project implementation.
- Develop training materials for project staff, partners, and community-based structures.
- Mentor project staff and ensure they receive capacity-building opportunities.
- Coordinate with National Office specialists on staff training in nutrition and health.
Project Monitoring, Reporting, and Evaluation
- Collaborate with MEAL Officer to develop a MEAL plan with KPIs and data collection methods.
- Monitor project progress, using tools like reports and dashboards to ensure alignment with plans.
- Conduct site visits, observe activities, and gather insights for improvements.
- Submit regular reports on project progress to the Food Assistance Manager and stakeholders.
- Participate in evaluations to assess project success and recommend improvements.
Staff Management
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and task assignments for project staff.
- Regularly evaluate staff performance, provide feedback, and set goals.
- Organize training to enhance staff skills and foster teamwork.
- Ensure adherence to World Vision’s safeguarding policy.
Partnership and Networking
- Build partnerships and networks with local stakeholders in project implementation.
- Represent WVU in key donor engagements and technical forums at district, regional, and national levels.
- Serve as a contact point for the WFP Nutrition Project consultation.
- Work closely with District Health Office to align the Nutrition Project with health guidelines.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition, Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science and Technology, or related field required.
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Experience in Community-Based Nutrition Programming and IMAM guidelines implementation.
- Experience in TSFP and Maternal and Child Health Nutrition Programs.
- Proven expertise in managing acute malnutrition and conducting nutrition assessments.
- Skilled in project cycle management, from planning to evaluation.
- Familiar with WFP and donor guidelines for program compliance.
- Skilled in budget management and financial accountability.
- Proficiency in HIS/HMIS databases for data-driven decision-making.
