Position Overview

The Information Management Officer will support the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) – Eastern & Southern Africa by managing quantitative data collected by 4Mi enumerators and partners in the region. Reporting to the 4Mi Project Manager and working closely with the wider 4Mi team, the successful candidate will conduct data checks, cleaning, validation, storage, and analysis of 4Mi data. The role also involves supporting data collection training, assisting with administrative tasks, and contributing to data visualization projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Management: Perform weekly data cleaning and validation following internal procedures, manage regional ONA platform, and handle data storage tasks.
  • Survey Coding: Lead survey coding, review codebooks, and serve as the focal point for data management queries.
  • Training Support: Assist the 4Mi team in training enumerators on the questionnaire and data collection software.
  • Quantitative Analysis: Support quantitative data analysis using tools such as Excel, STATA, and R; produce data-based snapshots for external publication.
  • Data Visualization: Utilize GIS and visualization tools like QGIS, PowerBI, and Adobe Illustrator to create data visuals.
  • Client and Partner Support: Generate information fact sheets for partners and contribute to regional IM working groups.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with other tasks related to the 4Mi project as required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Education: Degree in statistics, economics, data analysis, or a related computer science field.
  • Experience: Minimum two years of experience in quantitative research with a focus on data management, cleaning, validation, and storage.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic data collection software (ODK, Kobo, Qualtrics, ONA, SurveyCTO) and quantitative analysis tools (Excel, STATA, SPSS, R, Python).
  • Additional Skills: Strong attention to detail and quantitative data accuracy, experience with data collection team training, and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS) and understanding of regional mixed migration dynamics.
  • Previous experience with international NGOs is advantageous.
