Job Overview:
The Communications Officer will lead the development of learning products and advise on knowledge translation platforms for the Immunization Learning Hub project. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to create evidence-based learning products tailored to national priorities and disseminating them through multiple platforms. The Learning Hub, funded by Gavi and implemented by a consortium including PATH, the Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC), and Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), focuses on improving immunization equity in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with consortium partners to identify effective strategies to engage immunization stakeholders in the knowledge translation (KT) process.
- Attend national and sub-national meetings to disseminate targeted knowledge on zero-dose children (ZDC) and under-immunized children (UIC).
- Identify knowledge to be translated and work with a graphics designer to develop tailored learning products for various audiences.
- Assess awareness and knowledge regarding reaching ZDC, UIC, and missed communities, and develop clear, actionable learning products.
- Develop various communication materials, such as fact sheets, brochures, and evidence briefs, based on research findings and recommendations.
- Work with the research associate to document the use of evidence findings in decision-making processes related to ZDC and UIC.
Required Experience:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism is required.
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Health, or a related field is an added advantage. - Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in communications within the public health sector.
- Proven success in developing and executing strategic communications plans and leveraging various media and digital channels.
- Experience in developing communication content related to immunization and public health.
- Experience in crisis communication.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
- Proven ability to work in a team and multi-stakeholder environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and capable of handling changing priorities.
- Experience providing communications training and capacity building.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
