Job Summary:
War Child Holland (WCH) is seeking a creative and proactive Communications Intern to support the organization’s communications function by implementing strategies to increase visibility and engagement. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications and content creation while working within a dynamic, inspiring team.

Reports to: MEAL Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft newsletters, social media content, press releases, and other written materials to promote the organization’s activities.
  • Monitor and manage social media accounts, including scheduling posts, responding to inquiries, and tracking analytics to measure engagement.
  • Assist in developing and executing the organization’s communication strategy.
  • Help design and produce marketing materials, such as brochures, infographics, and promotional content.
  • Support internal communication efforts by contributing to team newsletters and announcements.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting events, including developing event materials and coordinating media coverage.
  • Maintain and update media and stakeholder contact lists.
  • Track and evaluate the performance of communication initiatives, providing feedback for improvement.
  • Capture and share stories, photos, and testimonials to illustrate the impact of the organization’s work.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) and experience with content management systems (CMS).
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a team.
  • Experience with photography, videography, or multimedia production is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Previous experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations is a plus.
